The Basics

What is Outsourced Inside Sales?

Inside sales is selling conducted remotely, by phone, email, and LinkedIn, rather than in the field. For most B2B companies, it is the most efficient way to build top-of-funnel pipeline at scale. Abstrakt provides outsourced inside sales teams that handle prospecting, qualification, and meeting-setting, backed by the technology and management that keep them productive, so you get a high-output inside sales motion without recruiting and running it in-house.

Inside vs Outside

What is the difference between inside and outside sales roles?

Inside sales works remotely, by phone, email, LinkedIn and video. Outside sales works in person: site walks, facility tours, estimates and the meeting in the owner's office. Most B2B companies need both, and the expensive mistake is paying an outside rep to do inside work.

For a commercial contractor, the outside role is usually an estimator, project manager or owner who sells. Their time is best spent walking a roof or a mechanical room with a qualified buyer, not cold calling between bids. Inside sales protects that time by doing the prospecting and qualification that feed it.

In some companies inside reps also close smaller deals by phone. Our inside sales teams stop at the qualified meeting, and your team closes. The design-build GC case shows the split working: the firm's people stayed on active projects while outbound put a decision-maker on their calendar, and that meeting became a $900K project in month three.

What We Handle

What does an outsourced inside sales team handle?

Everything from first touch to a confirmed, qualified meeting on your rep's calendar, done under your company's name as an extension of your sales team. Discovery, pricing, proposals and closing stay with your team.

Research and targeting

A custom ICP and target account list (1,500 accounts on Foundation), with the decision-makers on each account identified and the data corrected as reps work it.

Outreach

Phone-led sequences with email and LinkedIn, run by a U.S.-based SDR team. Growth programs add cold direct mail plus intent and trigger data.

Qualification

Every meeting clears three checks before it reaches you: Right Company, Right Contact, Right Timing.

Scheduling and handoff

The meeting is booked with your rep, along with what we learned: who they are meeting, why now and who handles the work today.

Nurture

Accounts that fit but are not ready are logged with their timing and followed up. Growth programs nurture for up to 18 months.

Reporting and reviews

Results Portal access around the clock, plus monthly reviews on Foundation, or bi-weekly reviews and quarterly strategy on Growth.

A clean line between the inside role and the closing role is what keeps meetings qualified and keeps your closers trusting the calendar. When a rep starts quoting or scoping on the first call, qualification gets skipped and the meeting turns into a price check.

When It Fits

When does outsourced inside sales make sense?

It fits when your buyers can be reached and qualified remotely, your territory has more accounts than field reps can prospect, and each deal is worth a dedicated meeting with a closer. It fits less when every sale is small and one-off, or when you only have a handful of possible buyers. If you want a partner to run the whole top of the funnel rather than add inside capacity, read how outsourced sales splits the work between our SDRs and your closers.

  • Territory size. A metro full of commercial buildings, or a multi-state region, holds more accounts than an outside rep can visit. Inside reps can touch the whole territory and send field time only where a qualified buyer is waiting. Our market guides show what a territory looks like city by city.
  • Deal size. The contract has to justify a meeting. Recurring service agreements, multi-site contracts and capital projects usually do. Small one-off jobs usually do not, and are better served by inbound and referrals.
  • Sales cycle. Longer cycles need someone to stay in touch between the first conversation and the buying window. That is inside sales work, and it is the part closers drop first when they get busy.
  • Your team's capacity. If estimators or the owner are the only people selling, prospecting stops whenever the work picks up. When Century Facility Services lost a sales rep, it outsourced the function instead of rehiring and booked $415K in new business in year one.
  • The hiring market. Schena Roofing could not find qualified salespeople in a tight labor market and booked 475 appointments with an outbound program instead.
CRM and Reporting

How does outsourced inside sales plug into your CRM and reporting?

Booked meetings land on your reps' calendars with the account context attached, your CRM stays the system of record for the opportunity, and the Results Portal shows every dial, email, conversation and booked meeting behind it.

  • Agree on the handoff first. At kickoff, settle which details travel with each meeting, who creates the opportunity in your CRM and who updates its stage afterward. Most handoff problems are decided here, not on the phone.
  • Give your rep what they need. A good meeting note covers who they are meeting and their role, the account, why now and who handles the work today. Your rep should never walk in cold.
  • Keep the opportunity with your team. Once the meeting happens, the deal belongs to your closer and your pipeline. The inside team keeps working the accounts that are not ready yet.
  • See the work, not a summary. The Results Portal gives 24/7 visibility into the activity behind every meeting, so you can check the program yourself instead of waiting for a monthly PDF.
  • Close the loop. Tell us what happened in each meeting. Meetings that became proposals sharpen the targeting; meetings that were not a fit show which check to tighten.
Not a Call Center

How is outsourced inside sales different from a call center?

A call center is built for call volume against a script. An inside sales team is built for conversations with decision-makers and is measured on qualified meetings and the pipeline they create. For phone-led outbound on its own, see our B2B cold calling services.

When you evaluate any provider, ask to hear real calls. Listen for whether the rep asks about timing and the current provider, or just pushes for a meeting. Inside Sales FAQ

What is inside sales?+

Inside sales is selling remotely, by phone, email and LinkedIn, rather than in person. For most B2B companies it is the most efficient way to build top-of-funnel pipeline.

What does an outsourced inside sales team do?+

It researches your target accounts, runs phone-led outreach with email and LinkedIn, qualifies every conversation against three checks and books meetings on your reps' calendars. Your team runs discovery, pricing and the close.

Inside sales vs outside sales: what is the difference?+

Inside sales happens remotely; outside sales happens in the field. Inside reps reach and qualify a whole territory, and outside reps spend their time on site with buyers who are ready to talk.

How is this different from a call center?+

We are B2B sales development specialists running a consultative, multi-channel motion, not script readers. Every meeting is qualified before it reaches you.

Are your inside sales reps U.S.-based?+

Yes. Every program has a U.S.-based SDR team, and Enterprise programs use a team of 2 to 6 specialists.

Do your reps close deals?+

No. They book qualified meetings. Pricing, proposals and closing stay with the people who will deliver the work.

How do we see what the team is doing?+

Through the Results Portal, which shows every dial, email, conversation and booked meeting 24/7, plus regular program reviews.

Will our inside sales rep also work for a competitor?+

Not in your territory. We take one client per trade per territory and will not run the same program for a direct competitor in your market.

Can you scale the inside sales team up or down?+

Yes. Programs run from an SDR team at 50% capacity on Foundation, to 100% on Growth, to a team of 2 to 6 on Enterprise, so you can add capacity for a new product or market without hiring.
