At Abstrakt, we pride ourselves on our one-of-a-kind culture. Each one of our team members knows that our culture is unlike anything else that they’ll find at another company. The pillars of our culture help us to stay running like a well oiled machine, they keep our team members unified, and they remind us to never miss a chance to celebrate.

There are six different pillars of culture that we focus on at Abstrakt. Each team works to keep these values alive by assigning ‘roles’ to team members. Every pillar is a different role; the person assigned to that role is responsible for keeping the team on track with the values that align with that pillar. When running at full speed, teams should be ON FIRE.

Vision

Someone has to be steering the ship. Vision is a pillar of our culture because we believe in spreading our mission, vision, values, and goals and we believe in consistency in messaging across the organization. This pillar helps us to achieve both of those things.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. This pillar is all about unifying people. The person on each team who holds the unity role will be responsible for unifying their team to achieve things they never thought possible.

Metrics

The first step in achieving your goal is writing it down. At Abstrakt, we track the numbers that matter. We know that the goals we achieve tomorrow come from the work put in today. Tracking important items for both individual teams and the company as a whole helps us take the necessary steps to get to achieve the results we’re looking for.

The work of EVERY PERSON in our organization is incredibly important (and it should be celebrated). Celebrations is a pillar of our culture because we want to show people just how important and impactful their work is. We celebrate all wins, no matter how big or small. Bringing attention to our daily wins is part of what makes our culture so great; by focusing on the positive and celebrating all the good, it creates a better work environment and a safe place for everyone.

On a plane, they always say, “In case of emergency, put your oxygen mask on before helping others.” You can’t help your clients, teammates, or the organization as a whole if you’re not taking care of yourself first. Development is a pillar of our culture because we believe in our people growing both personally and professionally every day. The ultimate goal of this role and pillar? To increase the quality of life of our team members through achievement, mental and physical wellness, and professional growth.

The spirit of joy prevails where the spirit of camaraderie exists. When a team has an identity, they will naturally mold together as a more cohesive unit. Camaraderie, or mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together, is essential for teams within an organization to be productive. Branding is an important pillar of our culture because it allows our teams to show their individuality and team identity. It’s part of our culture and part of what makes us so successful.

Weekly initiatives

Every week, the executive and director teams at Abstrakt decide on one initiative to attack as an organization. The initiatives are then communicated to all Chief Vision Officers on all teams. Then, each role will play a key part in carrying out that initiative throughout the week.

Role Responsibilities and How to Own Your Role

Roles are extremely important to our organization and have a huge impact on our culture. They challenge everyone to carry out their individual role responsibilities and Abstrakt’s values on a daily basis. Every team assigns roles to team members who are best suited for each role. Every team at Abstrakt has team members who hold one of the following six roles:

Chief Vision Officer

The Chief Vision Officer is someone who holds a management role on their team and is also responsible for spreading our mission, vision, values, and goals on a daily basis while also holding team members accountable for carrying out their role.

Chief Metrics Officer

The Chief Metrics Officer is responsible for ensuring the team knows exactly where they are with all important team and company goals at all times at all times. They track important metrics for the team and make sure those metrics are communicated with all team members.

Chief Unity Officer

The Chief Unity Officer is responsible for strategizing ways to bring the team closer together. They find ways to unify the team and report on those initiatives throughout the month.

Chief Development Officer

The Chief Development Officer is responsible for ensuring everyone on their team grows personally and professionally each month. They should be focused on team members’ quality of life while also doing whatever they can to help them achieve their professional goals as well.

Chief Branding Officer

The Chief Branding Officer is responsible for ensuring that team members live by and stand true to their team brand. They should be focused on creative ideas that will help their team have a true identity while also pushing each team member to eat, sleep, and breathe that team brand.

Chief Celebrations Officer

The Chief Celebrations Officer is responsible for recognizing their team’s important work and celebrating it in their own unique way. They should be thinking of ways to shed light on the positive things their team is doing and to celebrate all wins, no matter how big or small.
