4 things that made these companies the Best Places to Work

Panelists from three businesses on Friday discussed some things that help their companies excel — and how others can follow suit. Their comments came at the Business Journal’s Best Places to Work awards breakfast

A business is only as good as its talent:

Scott Scully, CEO of Abstrakt Marketing Group, said companies have to establish an environment that attracts and retains talent. Millennials value philanthropy, Scully said, so Abstrakt matches employee donations and takes part in community charity events. The advertising and marketing firm also offers flexibility, a work-life balance, fun atmosphere and rapid advancement — qualities employees desire. So far this year, 30 people have been promoted at the firm and 18 people will be hired at the end of the month, Scully said.
