Employee Spotlight: Eric Watkins

Eric Watkins began his career at Abstrakt Marketing Group in January of 2013 as an Operations Intern. After seeing how passionate Eric was about his job, he was transitioned into an Operations Manager in August of 2012, where he excelled in his position for a little over two years. In December of 2014, he was given the title of Partner Sales Manager where he showed how dedicated he was to sales. He now serves the company as the Director of Partner Sales. Eric is a great asset to our company and we are excited to continue to watch him succeed and continue to grow at Abstrakt.

We sat down with Eric to ask him some questions about his four years at Abstrakt:

What do you enjoy most about working at Abstrakt?

“I enjoy the fact that I am surrounded by very driven individuals with a hunger to continue to learn and grow as a team.”

What excites you about being able to help your clients grow their business?

“There is no better feeling then when a client calls us overjoyed about closing a deal from one of our appointments. The fact we cold called a business 400 miles away, that had no intention of buying services from our clients, and we were able to persuade them to sit down and eventually sign a contract blows me away. That is an awesome feeling.”

How has Abstrakt helped you in your career development?

“I feel like at Abstrakt you learn in dog years. You get the opportunity to work in multiple industries, with great business owners and sales individuals across the country. At 24 years old, I found myself consulting business owners on their sales process based on knowledge I have gained through the multiple clients I have worked with.”

What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far, here or elsewhere?

  1. Always look internally at what you can improve on first.
  2. Consistency is everything.
  3. Hard work beats talent any day of the week.

What was your favorite project to work on?

“Building out the client meeting structure based on my experience as a Partner Sales Manager and Director of Partner Sales.”

How do you define success?

“Being better than you were the day before”

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“Chicken Wings, Fries, and a DQ Blizzard (Reese’s of course!)”

What is one thing you cannot go without?

“Appointments”

Where is your favorite place you’ve traveled?

“Paris”

Who is your favorite musician?

“Kanye West”
