T-minus one day until our favorite day of the year!
That’s right, our 3rd annual Abstrakt Gives Back Day is happening this Friday! Our A-Players will be granted leave during typical operating hours to give back to the community with our local nonprofit partners. Over 330 team members, plus their guests, will be kicking off the day at 8:15 a.m. with breakfast at the office, then heading out into the streets of STL to make a big impact!
With our entire company volunteering simultaneously at 17 local nonprofit organizations, we are sure to have a productive and fun-filled day.
Check out the organizations we’re partnering with this year!
Almost Home
Almost Home’s main focus is to empower young moms to become self-sufficient and create a better future for themselves and their children. From housing services to job training, moms work to complete the Almost Home Program. Abstrakt’s team will be deep cleaning the interior of their building to make it feel more like home.
Best Buddies Missouri
Best Buddies Missouri was established in 2013 because of a group of passionate individuals who wanted one thing: to help the state understand people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Best Buddies creates many opportunities for people with IDDs, including friendships, jobs and leadership programs. Abstrakt has previously assisted Best Buddies Missouri with social media, but Give Back Day will be spent going more in-depth on building an online presence.
Epworth Children and Family Services
Epworth’s mission is to help children, youths, and families move toward self-sufficiency by focusing on health, housing, education and employment. They have provided the St. Louis community with these services for over 150 years. Abstrakt is going to spruce up the exterior of the building and prepare lunch with the children.
Friends of Kids with Cancer
Friends of Kids with Cancer is devoted to enriching the daily lives of children undergoing treatment for cancer and blood-related diseases. Their mission is to be an advocate for these special kids and provide them and their families with the recreational, educational, and emotional support needed throughout the long hours of chemotherapy, illness and isolation. Abstrakt team members will be shopping for toys and other items, then delivering them to the kids.
Gateway Greening
Gateway Greening has been working to provide creative, grassroots solutions to urban problems since 1984. The organization’s founders saw St. Louis residents with few options for fresh food, vacant lots attracting undesirable activity, and a lack of hands-on learning for youths in threatened neighborhoods. Abstrakt is helping Gateway Greening strengthen its communities through gardening and landscape maintenance.
Gateway Pet Guardians
Gateway Pet Guardians is a nonprofit animal shelter whose staff and volunteers are dedicated to caring for animals on the streets of East St. Louis, Illinois, and the surrounding area. Its mission is to end homelessness for animals in the Metro East through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, community outreach, and education. They need assistance with cleaning, painting and yard work.
Giant Steps of St. Louis
Giant Steps is a therapeutic school for children and teens with autism spectrum disorders. The school program serves as an alternative placement for children who have struggled in larger educational settings. The Giant Steps learning environment is sensory-friendly, with spaces for exercise and quiet time. Abstrakt’s team will be working with them on painting projects.
Habitat for Humanity St. Louis
Habitat is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally. It works toward this goal with a comprehensive program in which local families invest their time in building and purchasing their own homes. Abstrakt is thrilled to be assisting them again this year in any way we can.
Healing Action St. Louis
Healing Action is dedicated to fighting commercial sexual exploitation through a multi-system approach. They empower individuals and communities through awareness, advocacy and healing action. Abstrakt’s team will be working with them to create an online presence through social media and marketing.
H.E.R.O.E.S. Care
Heroes Care is an affiliation of program partners that work together to provide support to military families. They provide financial aid, employment opportunities and mental health care services before, during and after deployment. Abstrakt’s team will be sorting and organizing suits in the warehouse.
Laclede’s Landing
Laclede’s Landing is St. Louis’ oldest and only riverfront district. This nine-block area was settled in 1764 and is home to many uniques bars, restaurants, retail outlets and other businesses. Abstrakt Marketing Group is situated on the Landing, so what better way to give back than to the place where our business resides? We will keep nearly 50 team members in the area for general cleanup, gardening, and landscape maintenance.
Missouri Stream Team
The Missouri Stream Team is a partnership of citizens who are invested in and concerned about Missouri waterways. It provides an opportunity for Missouri citizens to get involved in conserving Missouri’s 110,000 miles of water. Abstrakt’s Stream Team members will be assisting in the River Des Peres Clean-Up Project.
Operation Food Search
Established in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a leader in hunger relief, nutrition education, and advocacy, serving the Greater St. Louis region. Each month, Operation Food Search helps feed more than 200,000 people who struggle with hunger and food insecurity through these key programs: Emergency Food Distribution, Operation Backpack, Nutrition Education and Summer Meals. With a goal to end childhood hunger, OFS empowers families and helps children access the food they need. Abstrakt will be helping sort food.
PALS Pets
PALS is a no-kill shelter in rural Lincoln County, Missouri. PALS’s mission is to be an asset to the community and pet owners by finding good homes for impounded, stray, abandoned, neglected, or owner-surrendered dogs and cats by providing care and shelter for them until they are adopted. Abstrakt team members will be cleaning the facilities, walking and bathing dogs.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis
The first Ronald McDonald House of St. Louis opened in 1981. Since then, the organization has been providing comfort, care and a home away from home for families of seriously ill children. Abstrakt will be cleaning and organizing donations as well as doing yard work.
St. Louis Area Food Bank
Since opening in 1975, the St. Louis Area Foodbank has become the region’s largest food distribution charity. They work hard to ensure no one goes to bed hungry. The Abstrakt team is excited to get to the food bank and see how we can assist in battling hunger.
St. Patrick Center
St. Patrick Center works to provide opportunities for the homeless or people who are at risk of becoming homeless. These individuals work to build a positive change in their lives through affordable housing, sound mental and physical health, job opportunities and financial stability. Abstrakt’s team is anxious to help this organization in any way we can.
