35 hours of video footage are uploaded to YouTube every minute?
With this kind of traffic, do you realize how many people you could reach in a matter of minutes? We aren’t math wizards—but believe us—it’s a lot! From time to time, we’ll be handing out some killer tips on how you can better utilize YouTube for your business.
First up: Optimizing your video.
One of the most common YouTube mistakes is the failure to optimize the video description. From our experience, it seems that users don’t even know what “optimize” means and the ones that do fear it might be out of their scope. The reality is, it’s a pretty simple procedure and essential in making sure your videos show up in the right search results.
First, make sure you are selecting relevant keywords that pertain to the video and your business. If you aren’t sure what those keywords might be, YouTube has a nifty little tool that will help you in the selection process.
It’s also important to remember that there is more to optimization than just loading up your video with tags. The title and description requires optimization as well, giving your video the best shot at being discovered. If possible, try and include your top keyword in the title. We know: depending on what the key word(s) is, it may look a little goofy but trust us—it will help where your video shows up in search results. And that is what really matters, right?
