Not too long ago I sat in a restaurant with a co-worker and a representative from a neighboring business. We discussed many items, particularly the affect social media and blogging can have on your business. When we heard that their ownership staff wasn’t sold on the idea, we just had to ask, “How could you not be?”
If you have a basic understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), as well as an understanding for how people typically use the Internet, then you probably understand the benefits of blogging. If we all had unlimited resources and time, every company would have websites with hundreds of pages and more content on the web than they could dream of. This is obviously not normally the case. However, blogging is a resource that can be used to address those goals.
Your business, no matter what it is, changes regularly. It’s the nature of the beast. We stick with something for as long as it works and when it stops working, we change our strategy – that’s how we stay afloat. So maybe your web marketing strategy hasn’t been working for you as well as it did a year, even two years ago, and that’s OK—it’s to be expected. Why not dig further to discover the benefits of blogging? What are you scared of? It doesn’t have to be every day and you don’t have to be an award-winning writer to do it. If you have insightful things to say related to your business and your customers, you just may be missing out on an untapped resource.
It’s not fair to say that every company out there is doing it, there are some that do and are successful and there are some that don’t because it doesn’t work for them. But it is safe to say that in every industry there are those companies who have found success in blogging for their business, and maybe you could be the next one. So give it a shot, what do you have to lose?
