We all know how important video is to marketing: we come across hundreds of them on the web everyday as we conduct typical web searches. However, there may be one thing you didn’t know: video is where it’s at for B2B marketers.
Back in October of this year, Inc. posted a blog stating that, “92 percent of B2B customers watch online video and 43 percent of B2B customers watch online video when researching products and services for their business, with 54 percent of these watching on YouTube.” If we were talking B2C, those numbers wouldn’t be surprising in the least, but as a B2B marketer, you may be a bit shocked. Although, knowing what we know from our years of experience in the B2B marketing space, these numbers are accurate – if not a little low.
So why are we talking about it now? Merely to act as a mental reminder for your marketing department. Video may be the one thing that didn’t make the cut on your marketing budget last year, but with the new year right around the corner (literally), maybe it’s time for that to change. Can you continue to ignore a platform that 92 percent of your customers are engaging in? If you can, congratulations, your business must be among the most successful in the country. But if you’re like most of us, you can’t afford to ignore the benefits of video any longer.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: take the time to invest in video. You don’t have to hire us or another marketing firm to do it – although we’ll be happy to accept your business. You need nothing more than a video camera and great content to start reaping the benefits of this platform and the return is certainly worth the time investment.
