Abstrakt Meets The Nametag Guy – Scott Ginsberg

Local integrated target marketing company goBrandgo! hosted Scott Ginsberg, “The Nametag Guy”, as part of their go!-Get Creative [a go!-getter series event] last week. Four Abstrakt crew members were lucky enough to witness his inspiring talk on getting your customers to join your brand, not just purchase your brand.

In addition to authoring 13 books, Ginsberg is an accomplished professional speaker, an award-winning blogger, the producer of NametagTV.com, a mentor to several, an entrepreneur and, in his words, verbatim: “one smoking hot piece of brain candy.” Believe it (or not), he has made a successful career from wearing a nametag for 4,031 consecutive days (as of today – Nov. 15th, 2011). You may be wondering how he wears a nametag all the time. I can answer this question since he stretched his shirt collar down during his speech to show his nametag tattoo across his left chest. After the giggling subsided, you realize that, yup—it’s real.

Ginsberg’s most recent book, “The Nametag Principle”, encompasses 366 (an extra day to account for the leap year) daily practices to make your brand more engaging, more joinable, more human and more approachable.

Allow me to leave you with a few words from Ginsburg: “Mattering is a choice. Face to face is making a comeback. Ideas are free, execution is priceless. Don’t be stopped by not knowing how. Make your mission more than a statement. Good brands are bought, great brands are joined. Consistency is far better than rare moments of greatness. ASPIRING is just a word for people who don’t want to commit. The best way to bring home the bacon is to raise your own pigs. It’s not who loves you, it’s whose life is better because YOU love them.”
